RE Subject Intent Statement:
Religious Education (RE) plays a crucial role in equipping students to navigate and contribute to a diverse, multi-religious, and multi-secular society. RE offers an intellectually challenging and personally enriching experience that enables students to understand the complexities of religion and non-religion in the world while making sense of their own place within it.
By engaging with RE, students are exposed to a range of religious traditions, beliefs, and practices, including Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, and Judaism. Through in-depth exploration, students develop a comprehensive understanding of these traditions, fostering empathy, respect, and tolerance for diverse perspectives. RE encourages critical thinking and analytical skills as students analyse religious texts, interpret symbols, and evaluate the ethical dimensions of various belief systems.
Moreover, RE goes beyond the study of religious traditions to encompass non-religious perspectives. This inclusive approach enables students to appreciate the diversity of worldviews and helps them cultivate a broader understanding of the multifaceted nature of human beliefs and values. Our Continuous Curriculum Plans (CCPs) navigate the academic journey of your child by subject from KS2 all the way up into KS5. They allow both staff, students and parents to be clear on what is being taught and where assessments lay in the school year, which in turn, gives students autonomy over their learning as it empowers them to prepare ahead of time.
